Since I always shop on Thursdays, it throws my monthly budget ($300 for all food, personal care, cleaning, paper, & baby products) for a loop when there is a fifth Thursday in the month! That said, I definitely went over budget this month. But, because there are so many months when I am under my $300 budget, it usually all washes out by the end of the year.
Total value of all purchases in March = $902.74
Total amount spent out of pocket after sales & coupons = $383.74
Total amount saved = $519.00 (or 57%)
Year to date savings...
Total value of all purchases in 2011 = $2,488.16
Total amount spent out of pocket = $994.74
Total amount saved = $1,493.42 (or 60%)!

February Totals
For those of you who are new to my blog, you may or may not know that our family's monthly grocery budget (for a family of 4) is $300 a month - which includes all food, personal care items, paper products, cleaning supplies...even diapers! I thought I would give you my total numbers for the month of February so you could see how well I stick to that number.
Total value of all items bought: $660.29
Total amount of money spent out of pocket after sales and coupons: $256.18
Total savings: $402.77 or 61%
I did pretty well in February, staying under budget by more than $40. This is not to say that I am ALWAYS under budget. There are months when I do go over a little. (Rarely more than $50.) But, because of months like this where I am able to save quite a bit, it all pretty much evens out by the end of the year.
When we get to the end of March, I hope to break my totals down by store so that you can see how much money I end up saving at each of the 4 main stores I shop at.

November Totals
Well, I have finally gotten all of my receipts totaled up for November and have the numbers ready for you! If you're new around here, our family's budget is $300 a month for all groceries, cleaning supplies, paper products, personal care items, diapers, etc. Basically, anything we need for our home or ourselves! At the end of the month, I like to add up all of my receipts to see how much money we've saved.
This month's totals seem a little low compared to recent months. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that there just weren't many good drugstore deals this month. Plus, we had a pretty full pantry and freezer this past month so there just wasn't a whole lot in the "needs" section of my grocery list each week.
That said, I was able to keep up almost $60 under budget, so I was pretty excited about that! I'm going to enjoy that number because I have a feeling I'll be cutting it close in December, if not going over due to all the extra cooking and shopping!!
