Thrifty Tuesday - quick trip for coffee!

Since today is the LAST day of May (can you believe it?!), I knew I had several good coupons expiring today.  I wanted to make a quick trip to Walgreens to get the Gillette razor and Dunkin Donuts Coffee before it was too late!  (I cannot let a good deal on coffee pass me by right now!)

Here's what I ended up with:

Total value: $47.16
Total spent: $13.36
Total saved: $33.80 (or 72%)!

I didn't have any Register Rewards to start with, and didn't leave with any new ones, so I wasn't too upset with the amount of money I spent.

I've love to hear about any great drugstore deals you get today!

No New Coupons This Week!

You can enjoy a break from coupons this weekend as there will be no new inserts in this week's paper due to the holiday weekend.  Take advantage of this break and enjoy some time with your friends and family!  The coupons will be back before we know it!  :)

Thrifty Thursdays!

Today was quite a busy day.  It started off with my daughter's preschool graduation.  I can't believe she is already finished with preschool and going to be starting Kindergarten in just a few short months!  Time sure does fly!

Then, after a quick trip to the hair salon, I started my shopping for the day.  I made it to Kroger, Walgreens, and Walmart today.  (I only went to Walmart to pick up some pull-ups & new socks for my daughter, but did buy a watermelon while I was there - I couldn't resist!)

Kroger wasn't too thrilling, but I did pick up 4 bottles of Wishbone salad dressing for $.25 each, 4 bottles of Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce for $.50 each, and Oscar Meyer hotdogs for $.75 each.

Total value of 35 items: $93.67
Total amount spent oop: $43.33
Total amount saved: $50.34 (or 54%)

Next, I went to Walgreens where, believe it or not, they had EVERYTHING on my list still in stock!!  Including all the items I had rainchecks for from last week.

I was excited to see that my store had the Gillette gift packs as part of the Gillette Fusion register reward deal!  It includes a razor, extra blade, battery, shave gel, and face cream all for the same price as the regular one count razor!  I was also happy about the Viva paper towels because they are my FAVORITE, but I usually don't splurge on them.

That said, I spent way more than I usually do at Walgreens this week.  But, I just could not pass up the contact solution and paper towels.  I started with $5 RR from 2 weeks ago and I did 6 transactions to bring my out of pocket total down.

Total Value of 21 items: $85.24
Total amount spent out of pocket: $15.33
Total amount saved: $69.91 (82%)!

I also went in the Dollar Tree store today to see if they had any bread in and they did!

Not bad for $4!

How did you do on your shopping trip this week?  I'd love to hear!

Impromptu Shopping Trip = BIG Savings!!

Today, while the girls were napping, I decided to run out to CVS and Food Lion to pick up a few freebies!  (Don't worry.  My husand was home - I didn't leave the girls alone!!)  :)

I was surprised to find that CVS actually had everything I wanted except for the Suave bodywash.  Here's what I got...

I was so excited to get a good deal on diapers because we were down to one pack!  Same goes for the pasta sauce, too!

Total value of 14 items:  $62.61
Total amount spent oop:  $1.97!!
(I used just over $28 on this trip and got back $26!)

Next it was on to Food Lion.  When I was there last week, I picked up a box of Purina One Beyond cat food that was on sale for $2 and I had a $2 coupon that I had gotten with a free sample in the mail.  I noticed that in this past week's paper there was another $2 coupon for any Purina One cat food product, so I went back to get more!  (Today was the last day of that sale.)  I also wanted to see if I could use the $1 off ANY Marcal Small Steps product coupon that was in this past Sunday's RedPlum insert to get any deals.  And I did!!!  I found single rolls of paper towls regularly priced at $1.19 and 4 packs of toilet paper regularly priced at $1.49!!  I opted for the paper towels....

Total value of 8 items:  $17.40
Total amount spent oop: $1.40
Savings = $16 or 92%!!!

And, finally, I ended my shopping trip with a stop at McDonald's where I used my FREE Frozen Strawberry Lemonade coupon to get a nice treat!!

I'm hoping I do this well on Thursday when I do the rest of my shopping!

Dollar Tree Deals!

I don't know if you visit your local Dollar Tree store very often, but I am OBSESSED with mine!  It is easily one of my favorite stores to go to!!  I am lucky in that the Dollar Tree closest to me is rather large and kept very neat and clean.  (I have been to some that aren't.)  You never know what you might find in there - the selection changes every week.  And, of course, you can always get your Sunday newspaper there for only $1!!

Part of the reason I'm writing this post is to make you aware of the fact that most Dollar Tree stores carry a great selection of Nature's Own bread!!  (My FAVORITE brand!)  Our store gets a new shipment in every Thursday.  There are usually different varieties to choose from - today I even found bagels!  As with most food found at the Dollar Tree, be sure to check the expiration date before you buy.  Most of the bread I find is still fresh, though occasionally I do find loaves with expired dates.

Here is a picture of what I found today at the Dollar Tree.  My 2 year old was so excited to find raisins!  She loves them and even the small boxes are so expensive at traditional stores.  The small packs are great to keep in the diaper bag for quick snacks!  (Same goes for the small packs of peanut butter crackers!)

If you have never checked out the food selection at your local Dollar Tree, you should try it!  Let us know if you find any good deals!

Clothing Clearance at Toys R Us!

Nothing puts me in a panic faster than starting a new season and suddenly having nothing to dress my children in!!  (Why does it seem like the weather changes all of a sudden right when my kids have a growth spurt?!)  If you have been looking for some inexpensive summer clothing for your kiddos like I have, then you may want to head out to Toys R Us this week!  Right now, they have all of their clearance priced clothing on sale B1G1 50% off!  I was just there last week and noticed that they had quite a good selection of clearance items to choose from - most of which was summer clothing!  Many items started at just $4 to $5!

Come back and let us know if you find any good deals!

Changes to Kroger Fuel Points Program!

At almost every workshop I do, someone asks me about the Kroger fuel points program.  To be honest, I have studied my receipt SEVERAL times trying to figure out how you accumulate points - whether or not they count your total before coupons or after coupons, how to know if whether or not they counted the times I had prescriptions filled, etc.  I finally gave up and just decided that if I got any money off of my gas when I filled up, it would be a bonus!  :)

Well, there is a new post on SouthernSavers that helps to explain the Kroger fuel points mysetery and tells about some new changes to the program. She does a much better job of explaining it than I could, so I've posted a link here.

Here's to all of us HOPEFULLY getting cheaper gas in the near future!

Staples Ad 5/22 - 28 = $3.99 Bounty Paper Towels!

Staples has a good deal on Bounty paper towels this week:

Buy (1) package of Bounty towels 6-pack @ $4.99
Use the $1 Bounty coupon from the P&G $110 savings booklet
Final cost = $3.99 or $0.67 per roll

Not bad if you're running low on paper towels!

Also, there are several items offering up $3 each in Staples Rewards this week.  You can check out the Staples weekly ad here.

New Posts Coming!

Well, I guess you can tell that it's been a while since I've posted on here.  There are several reasons for that - the biggest is the fact that we have been having lots of computer issues in our house lately that has limited my time on-line.  Add that to a busy schedule and 2 kiddos that keep me on my toes and I have found little time lately for my blog!  I'm hoping to change all of that starting today!  I hope you will continue to come back and check my posts as I have plans to update them several times a week!
